I am not a collector of, or expert on, German military items/collectibles, but will try to answer any questions you may have. If you have any additional info, or corrections, that you would be willing to share I will use it you update this listing. Thank you.
Based on my research this helmet is a 1st pattern Tropical Pith Helmet and would have been used by the German military forces in North Africa and in the Mediterranean Theaters.
Helmet is missing both metal insignia shields but is otherwise complete with leather chin strap, leather sweat band & top vent piece.
Leather chin strap, and leather edging have wear. Chin Strap has surface cracking but is free of rips, tears, holes or frays.
Leather sweatband is complete but seam attaching it to the helmet liner has started to unravel. Underside of sweatband has size stamp but I could not find a manufacturer's stamp.
Helmet is covered in tan canvas with a red colored inner lining. The top of the helmet is slightly pushed in (See photos). Helmet does have normal surface wear for it's age but is free of rips, tears or holes.
Would be a great addition to your military collection to use as a re-enactor/cosplayer or to wear if you are a lover of vintage/military fashions.
