    Description

WWII 1949 Navy Surplus 100% wool Rear Admiral Flag Arleigh Burke donated to relief fund.  WWII Naval commander in the Pacific
Arleigh Burke was made Rear Admiral in 1949.  His first Rear Admiral Flag was from 1949 WWII Navy
Surplus.  It was later donated to help subsidize a
    relief
    fund during the
    Vietnam
War.  This flag that he donated and had the
    signatures
    of two
    famous
    WWII rear Admirals including
Rear Admiral Flag of Allen Kirk on the whiter stars.   He was in command of the Pacific Fleet when Pearl Harbor was attacked.  I purchased this flag along with a few other items donated to the Vietnam Naval relief auction.  I am including a scan of the 1960's auction that you can copy for your records but it is not included with the flag.
Extremely rare named WWII Rear Admiral Flag of
    Arleigh Burk
    .
30" x 22" wool flag with two appliqued stars on either side, against a blue field.
WWII Pearl Harbor Rear Admiral Allen Kirk Flag owned and acquired by Rear Admiral Arleigh Burke
WWII flag with the admirals name and some writing on the two stars.  It is barely visible today but it was put in a military auction to raise money in the 1960's or 1970's.  It originally may have  belonged to a WWII naval commander Allen Kirk (made rear Admiral in 1941) and who was originally blamed for the Pear Harbor disaster but it was
    currently
    owned by
    Rear Admiral Arleigh Burke
    .
Burke served an unprecedented three terms as Chief of Naval Operations during a period of growth and progress in the Navy.
    The Rear Admiral flag of
    Allen Kirk was in
    Rear Admiral Arleigh Burke's
    collection and was donated
to raise money for a military fund.  I have his original auction donation card for the WWII admirals flag.
