Description
There’s a reason that nobody invades Switzerland, and it’s not because of the chocolates. The Swiss have universal conscription, a strong military, and a reputation for toughness on the battlefield that dates back over 500 years. That’s why they still guard the Vatican. This helmet evokes that earlier era, with its Germanic-looking side skirts (like the Stahlhelm) and its distinctive forward brim. It appears to be a Model M-18/40, which was introduced in 1918 and then later updated in the 1940’s. It was discontinued when the new helmet came out about 1971. I have no expertise in Swiss helmets so please do your research. Wikipedia has a good article on these helmets.
This particular example is in
superb condition
; it looks like it belonged to somebody important and was worn a few times but basically kept in storage. The outside shell has a black textured finish and is in great shape. The inside of the shell looks new, and paint has a lustrous sheen to it. There are three adjustable leather pads with only a light sweat mark and they are otherwise in excellent condition. Even the leather chin strap is like new and the attachment clip has a clean, shiny finish. There is a small plastic tab with some numbers and the word “Fuhrer” probably indicating the wearer had some kind of leadership position.
There are a number of these helmets out there but many are heavily worn and the interiors are stained. If you are in the market for a Model 1918 helmet, it would be hard to find a nicer example than this one.

We charge only for actual shipping costs, not “handling” or packaging. Shipping costs are estimates, and please understand that we may need to make adjustments to reflect our actual shipping costs.
This is a heavier item because of the steel construction.
