Description
WWII German Helmet ShellThis is an original mid-WWII German M40 helmet shell, that was unfortunately modified with the addition of four small holes to accommodate a different liner system. If the new owner so desires, an auto body shop could easily reseal these with welds.
The interior brim is size stamped Q66, along with the very desirable lot number of DN255. Its stampings denote late-1942 production by the Quist, Esslingen factory. The rolled rim exhibits a small split, which appears to be a factory flaw.
Much of its paint has been stripped away, making this an ideal candidate for restoration.
