Description
WWII German K98 BayonetThis is an original mid-WWII German Mauser K98 bayonet, complete with its original scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet's "43 fnj" marking denotes 1943 production by the Alexander Coppel GmbH (Alcoso) factory in Solingen, Germany. It showcases a serial number of "7637 p" and has acceptance proof marks on the pommel. The grips are constructed of a very nice reddish-brown bakelite. The scabbard, on the side closest to the leather frog's belt loop, is marked "S/172, 1937" (difficult to photograph). The scabbard was "force matched" (ie, re-serialed) to match the blade, likely following a depot re-arsenal. The leather frog is marked "1/0750/011".
