    Description

New 12% discount from 9 to .  Near Mint WWII German Wehrmacht combat low-boots ankle gaiters.
Original WWII American GI brought home souvenir of a pair of
    G
erman Wehrmacht combat ankle low-boots, in excellent condition, with a pair of ankle gaiters in near mint condition. The low boots are made of a cow hide leather which seem to have only been worn moderately and exhibit just the right amount of wear for a late war combat mannequin display. The soles of the boots are leather soled and have irons professionally cobbled to the heel and toe of each pair. Hobnails have also been added to the bottom of the boots for traction. The hobnails and irons on the soles of the boots are in excellent condition and show only minor wear. The boots also appear to have their original laces laced through the eyelets still. Three of the lace ends have begun to fray. The ankle gaiters are in near mint condition and appear to be unworn. The canvas material is in mint condition and is nicely marked on each gaiter with the maker's information, and are dated 1942. The leather adjustment straps and buckles are in near mint condition.
These types of German combat boots did not survive the war at all due to their massive use for decades after the war by Germans rebuilding their country.  Only the high top German Officer boots exist in any quantity as no one wore those to work construction in.
This excellent pair of low boots with gaiters was brought back to the US after the war by a GI soldier as a war souvenir and ended up in a famous Collection of high grade military antiques.
