Description
Originally an M35 produced by NS (Vereinigte Deutsche nickelwerke / Schwerte) in size 66. This helmet was collected after german surrender and used by norwegian forces in the late 40's.
Lot number 5443 which was originaly delivered to german Heer.
(Ps; these are the helmets that now and then appear on the market, where they are modified and are tried to be sold as German camouflage from Africa etc)
The helmet has all original german parts, liner in steel and original chin strap. The leather is dry and needs care and the seam and string are gone. The liner band has broke and need a replacement if new owner want to uprade the helmet, or it can be collected as is.
The surface of the helmet has sections with a somewhat rough surface. Large parts of the helmet still have a nice layer with the sand gray color, which is a
found on some of the earliest helmets.
It also has a single decal instead of a double one, which is very rare. Almost all helmets used by the Norwegian army immediately after the war were sandblasted and installed with two decals. We do not know why this one only has one.
The decal is of the earliest type, which means that it is smaller and placed just below the ventilation opening, exactly the same as the German decal was.Later Norwegian decals were placed between valve and nail, and were also much larger. They were also placed randomly angles, often much less perpendicular, which was perhaps revealing for the lack of enthusiasm for the German helmets as time went on.
The helmet has not been changed in any way since it was used.
The Norwegian helmets have become much more interesting as collectibles in recent years. The number of Norwegian / German helmets has also decreased significantly as many helmets have been tried to be restored back to German origin, or sold as "original" german helmets. On top of it all, it is possible to see that these helmets have begun to be forged in the same way as the Germans have been for many years. The reason is precisely because the value of these has risen considerably.
Higher priced than most Norwegian / German helmets, as this is guaranteed to be rare. The helmet is still priced down due to tough surface and damaged liner, seam in the leather. This is a helmet that is guaranteed to be difficult to find in the same price range as they were only used in Norway.
This helmet is an honest helmet and is sold from Norway to a collector who knows how to take care of it.
