    This is 1/4 pound of lead oxide, yellow, which is also called litharge. Lead oxide or lead monoxide is a yellow or yellow-orange powder with a density of 9.5 and a melting point of 888 degrees Celsius. Occurs naturally as the mineral massicot. Uses include - storage batteries, ceramic cements and fluxes, pottery and glazes, leaded glass, varnishes, paints, enamels, assay of precious metal ores, manufacture of read lead, cement (with glycerol), ointments, producing iridescent colors on brass and bronze, gold testing, coloring sulfur-containing substances (hair, nails, wool, horn) and match-head compositions.
