This John Deere Farmer’s Pocket Ledger not only contains several pages of black and white line drawings and descriptions of the current tractors and implements of the day, it’s also packed with almost every tidbit of useful information a farmer needed to have at hand. Many reference pages, including animal gestation cycles, weights and measures - from lumber board feet to calculating an engine’s horsepower, to estimating a silo’s capacity, to a guide to belts on equipment, and much more. It also contains a year’s ledger for bookkeeping, and crop, egg, and stock breeding records.
Booklet has been heavily used by the farmer and one page is missing from the bookkeeping record section. Some pages are dog-eared. Penciled notes are present on many pages, where the farmer was writing some records for several years (using this booklet as a worksheet rather than a bookkeeping record for that year).
