The SMS Königsberg was a light cruiser of the Imperial Navy, the first of a series of four ships. In April 1914 she was put back into service for the East African Station. Not very successful in the cruiser war, after the sinking of the British cruiser Pegasus off Zanzibar, she tied up considerable forces in front of her hiding place in the Rufiji estuary before she died on November 11. It was blown up by its own crew in July 1915.
