Avoid Lesser-Known Area Code 771
This ebay listing is for the transfer of a phone number in Washington, DC, which starts with area code 202.
The number we are offering is shown in the photo above.
Not only is this a 202 number, but it's also ending in 00, so it's that much more memorable than other telephone numbers.
Easy to say... this number flows off the tongue !
As of November 9, 2021, the telephone companies, cell providers, VOIP networks, etc. will start to issue new phone numbers for Washington, DC which start with area code 771, as opposed to the traditional 202.
This is because at the current growth rate, it is expected that DC will run out of 202 phone numbers, sometime between now and 2022.
If you plan to launch a new business, or if you are getting a new cell phone number, or if you are moving to Washington, it is likely that you will be given a phone number in area code 771, as opposed to 202.
You may not want to put a 771 phone number on your vehicle lettering... or on your business cards.... or on your online marketing..... Some potential customers may not recognize that 771 is a local phone number.
Or other potential customers will instantly know that you just recently started your business, or that you just recently got your phone number.
Avoid a customer asking "771, what's that, is that a local call ?".... by ensuring that you have a 202 phone number.
202 is proven, having been Washington DC's only area code, for almost 75 years !
So, you can purchase the transfer of this phone number from us here on ebay, and then you will have a 202 number... and it's a catchy 202 number, ending in 00 !
HOW DOES THIS TRANSACTION WORK ?
- We have obtained the phone number indicated in the photo above.
- It is currently functional, and registered to us.
- If you are the successful buyer here on ebay, we will ask your name and what address you wish to be associated with this new phone number. It can be a personal name, or a business name.
- We will then load that information into the telecom network's system, from our end, and we will turn on "ok to port" at our end.
- Once we have done that (usually within 24 hours), we will provide you with all the information you will need, to transfer or "port" the phone number over to the new provider of your choice. We will be giving you a PIN number, a carrier release number (sometimes called account number), and other information.
- You can then provide that information along with your name and address to the provider of your choice.
- Please give your new provider EXACTLY the same name and address as you provided to us. Same exact spelling of name, street name, city name, etc.
-
The provider you select can be a cell network, a landline telephone company, a cable TV provider (if they offer telephone services), a VOIP company, etc.
- You can use the number as your home, office, or cell number. As a fax machine number, as a VOIP number, as a landline number... it's totally up to you.
- You agree that within the next 24 to 48 hours after we have provided you with the transfer / porting information, you will contact the carrier of your choice and begin the transfer / port process.
- Depending on what provider you select, it may take a few hours, or up to 48 hours, or even in some very rare cases, up to a week, to have the number ported by the new provider. Cell companies tend to do this work quicker than landline telephone companies, from our experiences.
- There is no transfer out / port out fee from us, or from the carrier who is currently hosting the number for us.
- NOTE if transferring / porting the number to Google Voice or similar carriers, they may require you to first transfer your new number to a cell phone - we are not responsible for any of those arrangements or costs. (Most carriers don't have any such requirement, so you may wish to consider carefully which company you wish to transfer / port the number to.)
- NOTE if you are having this phone number installed as a landline phone number, or as a Cable TV company-provided phone number, the FCC rules require that your location be physically-located in Washington DC. If you are using this number as a cell phone number, or as a VOIP phone number, you can be anywhere, including adjacent areas like Virginia or Maryland. Or even further away. (I'm in Niagara Falls and I currently have this number active here.)
- We don't need to ship you a SIM card or a VOIP box or anything at all... if you're having a cell company do the transfer for you, they may require that you purchase a SIM card. If so, please purchase that from them or from one of their authorized vendors, and select whatever service plan you wish to have. We are not involved in that process. And it's only cell companies who will be wanting you to have a SIM card, no other types of providers will need that. If you are using your new phone number with a cell company, please remember that you will either need to top-up (pre-pay) for monthly minutes, or you will receive a monthly invoice which you will need to pay.
